To participate in our Day Tours:

This is a very social & rewarding day of Hiking, Abseiling, paddling, climbing, traversing & Discovering the Natural Beauty of Karijini National Park. Led by highly experienced resident roping guides. Our Guests do not require experience as we welcome novices, however our Canyoning Day Tours are of a very physical nature & we are working at height also.

You MUST be a fit and active person.

You MUST have a fair to good swimming ability.

We have received guests from 14 to 74 years with great success. Our Tours are not limited by age, yet limited by activity level. A reoccurring injury or a low activity level can put you in a lot of discomfort & also cause the tour to be altered or terminated to the frustration & disappointment of other participants.

Common Misconceptions regarding Restricted Karijini Gorges

  • It's a tour! How hard could it be, the guides will get me through right?
  • I'm determined to get fit & the tour will be a great challenge for me!
  • It's my risk if I want to see the Restricted gorges, what’s the problem?
  • I'll have my child lie about their age so I can get them on the Canyoning Tour

Our answer to the above Misconceptions

West Oz Active Adventure Tours has a Duty of Care to ensure that we do not undertake any Canyoning tours where there is a foreseeable way that we may put our clients into a situation that may increase the inherent risks of Karijini National Park. This is a very physical tour and you require a very good level of fitness – period.

Despite our Guides being trained and practiced in vertical rescue. If our clients become incapacitated from a low activity level or a reoccurring injury it will become necessary to engage the State Emergency Service volunteers to make an extraction. This is very dangerous work and creates unnecessary risks to the people of the Pilbara.

Untrained and unpermitted access to the Restricted Gorges of Karijini is dangerous not only for those entering unauthorised, but is unfair to State Emergency Service Volunteers whom Risk their lives to extract the injured. Trained Roping enthusiast should contact the Dept of Parks and Wildlife regarding access to Restricted Gorges. Or call us for some sound advice & assistance. The front door is always the best.

Our age limits are considered with much thought. We become concerned when adults have their Child lie about their age. This is puts your family at risk, please don't put us in a bad position as children are very upset when we decline.

Prior to Booking please watch this short film which we feel captures a day of Canyoning with us.

The Music in the above video is performed & written by The Eddy Current Suppression Ring.
